YogaTales Testimonials

"I cannot recommend this program enough.  It is professionally designed and meets the standards for learning with so much more.  The instructors, Ms. Violante and Ms. LaFache, both relate extremely well with students and were a joy to work with."

Christine A. Porter, LCSW, Perry Junior High, New Hartford School District Social Worker

“YogaTales is a wonderful program that incorporates health and wellness, character education, and the grade level curriculum.  Laureen and Carol begin with an introduction to Yoga, a story, and a discussion that links the story to concepts from our character education program.  Next, the students are able to actively participate in a re-telling of the story as they model characters from the story using Yoga poses.  The students love the interaction and learned valuable lessons at the same time.  After YogaTales, the students went back to the classrooms wanting to practice more Yoga.”

“This presentation has left quite an impression on our students!

Thank you, Laureen and Carol!”

Lisa Anderson, Principal, Hart’s Hill Elem. School, Whitesboro School District

“As a teacher who participates in Morning Program with my class, I immediately noticed the calmness and goodwill that settled over the group in response to a five-minute yoga lesson. I was amazed and delighted to see that even the more spirited children had no trouble focusing.  “Swami Mommy,” Laureen Violante, easily conveyed her message, and I quote, “It is impossible to have bad thoughts about someone else, if you only have good thoughts about yourself.” Violante’s message was truly a powerful tool toward encouraging the first generation of non-bullies into our society!”

Sharon Miller, Grade 1 Teacher, Sauquoit Elementary School, Morning Program

“YogaTales brings a playful balance between movement and stillness.  My son stayed engaged with the class from beginning to end and we both left feeling wonderful.”

Kristy Caruso, yoga teacher and a participating mom with son, Casey, 3 in YogaTales.

“Alana loves this class.  It has helped her listen to instruction and appreciate working with other children.  She has learned how good yoga and exercise is.  She is looking forward to more yoga!”

Gina Batson, mother of 4 year-old Alana, taking the Kirkland Town Library class.

A healthy activity to do with Mom and an opportunity to make yoga fun.  You two did a wonderful job with this class.  The choice of books was great and the enthusiasm you both had was quite evident.  Thank you”.

Mother, participated in YogaTales at The Yoga Haven with 4-year old son.

“Lucy has loved this class and talks about it constantly. Often we play yoga class at home with one of us being the teacher and the other pretends to be Lucy.”

Teresa Jones, mom of Lucy, 3 years old, Class at Kirkland Town Library.

“Danny enjoys and looks forward to each class!  Combining physical activity with learning about the world, such as the rainforest, makes it more memorable.  After the last class he said,I wish yoga class was every day!”  Incorporating the foods with various countries was brilliant!”

Marybeth Knauth, O.T., UCP, 9 year-old son participated in weekly studio classes.

What an exciting program for my students!  My class really enjoyed this.  All of my students actively participated and benefited from the yoga instruction.  The program’s activities and explanations were will planned and thought out. It allowed for all students to participate and the activities were engaging.  I think the teachers did an excellent job presenting to my first graders.  My students really enjoyed it and kept asking when they could do it again.”

Jenn Helfert, Grade 1 Teacher, Harts Hill Elementary School, Whitesboro.

“The lesson on the Aztecs perfectly captured their imaginations and reinforced some of the content we’ve talked about in class.  They (Laureen and Carol) covered folktales and monuments as well as culture and geography.  They incorporated this information in the various movements they taught the kids to do.  It was great to have after we’ve already done some lessons in class, but it would be good as the launch or a culminating activity for the country.”

Marty Homer, Third Grade Teacher, Sauquoit Valley Central School District

“Thank you for coming to my class again for another session.  Here are the reasons why I like YogaTales:  Children today live in a very fast paced, highly stimulated world.  Everything around them: TV, computer, video games extra-curricular activities, etc. says go, go, go.  They eat high sugar foods and have lots of energy with no place to go.  Hardly anyone plays “outside” any more.   No wonder our kids are so hyper yet obese.  YogaTales incorporates academic education as well as physical education.   It teaches the kids how to stretch and move their bodies in a confined area to relieve stress.  I like the control and leadership you have during the session.  Everyone seems intersected and engaged the whole time.  Lastly, I like the way you wind the kids down to close the session.  This rest period calms the children and sets the tone for a relaxing rest of the day.  Please come again - we look forward to future visits.”

Carol Dapice, Grade 3 Teacher, Jefferson Elem. School, Utica City School District

“YogaTales is something interesting, different from all the test prep and push, push, push strategies the children can use later on.  I suggest regular classes – one each month or every two months.”

“You wouldn’t have picked this up while you were teaching, but you actually got one of my autistic students to answer a “What” question.  That almost never happens.”

Vicki Anderson, Grade 3 Teacher, Jefferson Elementary School, Utica City School.

It is a wonderful way to teach the students different relaxation techniques while also incorporating the character building trait.  YogaTales was also engaging and fun for students.”

Kate Radell, Grade 5 Teacher, Harts Hill Elem. School, Whitesboro.

“ Neat way to organize thoughts and connect to curriculum.  Great de-stress activities, while building muscles, flexibility and patience.  I would like more.”

Kelly Chevrier, Grade 3 Teacher, Harts Hill Elem., Whitesboro.
