Laureen
Violante and Carol LaFache joined forces last year to develop a yoga
program for children using story as its centerpiece, thus the
business name YogaTales. Their vision was to creatively teach
children the virtues of good character through fun with body,
breath, mind and spirit. Using the skills they had honed over the
years, and incorporating best practice from leading experts in the
field of children’s yoga, they have developed lessons on virtue as
well as core curriculum. Incorporating a story into each lesson
allows them to teach reading readiness in their pre-school classes,
as well as develop vocabulary and comprehension skills with all
ages.
For the teachers they demonstrate
focusing techniques to transition, energize, relax, and prepare
children for test taking in the classroom. They believe that their
approach will go a long way in securing a healthy, peaceful and
compassionate society for the future.
The style and pace of
the YogaTales classes address the natural interests, needs and
rhythms of children. They stretch, breathe, relax and enjoy
the many benefits of yoga in a fun and playful way. They
actively engage in listening to and discussing a classic children’s
literature book that develops the virtues and character education.
